Coming Around Another Bend

Bunnies!
Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you all had a good day.  While it may not be chronologically accurate, the point is to commemorate the day the Savior overcame death and resurrected from death three days after He performed the Atonement.  As for my more secular friends, I hope you had good family dinners and decent amounts of chocolate.

This week marked the last week of March.  It seems like the year is flying by already.  I am excited for the change that's coming up later in April.

I registered for classes this week and managed to sort out most of my schedule.  Although I have classes everyday Monday through Thursday from 8am to 3pm, I do get breaks in between.  I will have an exam every week, however, we'll see how I handle that.  The bottom line is, I can still do research and work at BYU Broadcasting for a little bit during the upcoming semesters.

As for fun things, I had the opportunity to attend Lance's wedding reception on Thursday night after a painful biochemistry test.  It's crazy how everyone is moving on in life!  Needless to say, it was great to see the groom one more time before he embarks on a new journey with his bride.

Bioshock Infinite
I shouldn't be spending time on games lately since I have so much work to do, but I couldn't help it as the new Bioshock games came out.  Bioshock Infinite, like its predecessors, take ideologies prevalent through historical periods and weave it into a story that amazes the audience.  This game focuses on the ideas of American Exceptionalism, Manifest Destiny, and the social bigotry that occurred during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.  The science fiction element in this part of the series deals with the theory of multiverses set in the flying city of Columbia.  The series is one of the best FPSs I've ever played.  I recommend it to anyone who wishes a brain-stimulating experience.

Since it's Easter, my friend Jim invited me over to have dinner with his friend Steve and his family.  I am lucky to have buddies that care about me.  Jim is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for about a year and half.  He plans on letting his family know that he had converted starting when his father visits him next month.  Keep him in your thoughts and prayers because things like this could get ugly unnecessarily.

I got the chance to write Lyn back because she actually wrote a letter in return.  From the sound of it, she's doing well.  I'm still waiting for the day when she returns and I could observe it for myself how much she'd have changed.  It's still early in the process, but I think I'll enjoy some more mission tales in the next 17 and half months.

No audio logs this week, I think this post says more than enough.

From Now On

The lol excuse for not doing something.
As March draws to a close, we know there's only about three more weeks of classes and five more weeks until the end of Winter 2013.  This semester could have gone so much better academically, but part of the shortcomings is due to the lack of efforts on my end.  Senioritis has struck and it's hard to fight off the procrastinating impulses.  After all, I've been in Provo for three years since 2010.

I remain hopeful because I only have two more semesters after this one and I will be taking classes I thoroughly enjoy versus tons of technical courses I rather not sit through.  In all honesty, when I look back, I only enjoyed courses where I understood the material well instead of the B's, and sometimes lower, that I've gotten in the past.

Well, it's midterm time again and I'm swamped with two major papers due for GE classes.  What can you do?  Just chug along, I guess.  I have things to look forward to.

I have a little story for y'all.  It's about seeing good in the world despite of all the things going down the crapper around here.  Let's look past Obama-care and raising minimum wages, both of which will destroy our economy, and see for yourself that good things do happen.

Milestone to Remember

As the upcoming weeks approach, I think more and more about how I will change in the next few years.  I'm excited for this summer because of all the different things I will be doing with my roommates.  In addition, I'm starting to see where my career is going.

My roommates and I will be moving to a new house together this Spring.  Regardless what the ward will be like there, the house will serve as a sanctuary from unwanted attention.  The details will be sorted out later, but I have a good feeling about it.

I got cleared to start my last two semesters of medical laboratory science this past week.  I had no doubt that I would get it, but the thought of difficult semesters ahead of me made me wonder about how I would handle them.  Moreover, wherever I get assigned to do my internship will influence my decisions on where I live and work.  For now, I can only come up with one contingency in the case I stay in Provo for my internship.

Interestingly enough, where I decide to do my internship will also affect who I'll see again in about two years.  It's hard to grasp the idea that you might never see someone or some people again, but it happens in life; especially during life's various milestones.

What do you do?  You carry on and keep the big picture in mind.  Tragedies are only temporary, but refusing the light could have permanent effects.

Change of Scenary

Perhaps one of the more intriguing that happened to me this past week was witnessing the freshmen from when I first returned to BYU are now back from their missions.  Just goes to show that time flies and how I only have two more semesters left in this institution.

While I'm on the subject, it's interesting to see people I know well going on their missions, especially the women.  Sometimes, I'm not sure if I'm just a bystander among the changes or if profound changes also have had effects on me.  In addition, seeing most of my former roommates getting married made me wonder a few other things.

After a series of midterms, another round of exams is coming within the next week.  It's notable that there are only five weeks or so left in this semester until Spring Term.  To count my blessings, I don't have to take classes this spring and summer.  However, I'll have to prepare for the MCAT, which is a pain in itself.

I upgraded my phone this past week!  Now, I have my first smartphone.  It's an iPhone 4S.  It's not the newest model, but works just fine for me.  I'll consider that my late birthday present, among other things.

Lately, there had been a Flight of the Conchords marathon at my apartment.  Yes, if you've been getting messages about retractable pencils, this is why.  In fact, the video attached here is the very song whose lyrics you've been hearing or seeing.

I didn't do an audio log for this entry due to time restraint.  It requires a bit more imagination than simply writing down my thoughts about last week.  Nevertheless, it shall continue as soon as I have enough free time on my hands to burn.

Time will tell.  Making it to the next milestone in life rather quickly doesn't mean you'll have happily ever after.  I've seen plenty with vigor and drive jumping ahead only to fail in mid race.
