An Entry for Class

Well, normally during the semester, I only post once a week. This is actually out of the norm for me, but there's a good reason for that.  I do plan on putting in longer recordings, but that won't happen until I recover from this little ailment.

Another Direction

ARRRR!
This week has proven to be one of the more interesting ones I've had in a while.  As you all know, this week was a short one due to President's Day.  Normally, I would be excited about a relatively short week, but I didn't this time.  The relative nonproductive caused most of my long weekend useless and thus making a shortened week much more hectic than it needed to be.

With that said, I turned 24 on the 21st.  Time sure flew by quickly.  I can legitimately have a quarter life crisis now.  I won't because I have a fairly good idea on what I'm doing for the next decade or so.  Another factor to consider is that I am currently single.  Life will easily add more twists if things are to change that in the next few months/years.

I had the opportunity to serve at a soup kitchen this Friday and it was a lot of fun doing everything at turbo speed for the homeless.  In the end, I got a stash of cinnamon buns that were leftovers from the feast provided to the shelter-less.  Well, that's not all.  John, probably the most culinary out of all us, baked me a cake!  It was in the form of the Bouncer Big Daddy from Bioshock.  I can't ask for a more awesome roommate!

With the recent problems at the Miller Compound, my roommates and I decided to find another place to live this Spring.  Luckily, fortunes were with us and I believe we have found the perfect place to live for the rest of our BYU careers...at least, until some of us are married.  I won't go into the details here as we haven't signed the contract yet.  I'll keep you all updated!

I've been playing with the idea of an audio diary.  I was wondering if I should make it so I read off the blog entry to let you hear the inflections of my voice, explain an event in greater detail, or some random musings related to the post.  Due to space and buffer limitations, I probably don't want it beyond one minute of recording as the sample above takes up 6 MB.  If it goes well, I may consider find a better host for my audio diary entries.  For now, I'll stick with Google Site.  Bet most of you have never used it before.

Another Anniversary

Yes, I clearly remember this.
This Sunday marks the sixth-year anniversary of my baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Church.  It goes without saying that tomorrow is the day I was confirmed six years ago.  Life certainly has changed much, but it wasn't all roses and rainbows.  But hey, life has been going well in other aspects of my life.  I do believe in what Lyn said; that the eternities will be better in the long run.

Since I've been sick all last week, I wasn't as productive as I would have wanted.  Fortunately, I am mostly recovered after the first outbreak Thursday the 7th.  The only annoyance now is the awkward congestion coupled with occasional running nose.

Last week was also one of the worst times of the year, Valentine's Day.  Due to my overall discomfort, I didn't do anything special that day.  I did, however, tried to make some people's day better.  I'm not sure if I was successful or not, but I did get text replies.

In other news, the Chem481 test kicked my butt.  The funny thing is, I'm 100% positive that it kicked almost everyone else's as well.

I think I'm getting a bad case of senioritis.  I have zero motivation to do homework during the weekend.  That's probably not good, but I just want rest.  I've been going to school non-stop for years now and I can't take this anymore!

I haven't talked about work very much lately.  That's mainly because there hasn't been any memorable moments recently.  I do have one complaint, though, who the heck is taking the leftover food in the work fridge?  I swear, I'm gonna have to make some countermeasures from now on.  I'm not a greedy person.  I just want that ONE thing.

Man of Iron

Well, this week has been somewhat of a physical wreck.  I didn't feel like my normal self the whole week.  In fact, it was not until later on Thursday that I noticed the sore throat and overall decreased stamina.  Luckily, as of Sunday, I've been feeling much better.

It doesn't matter what comes at me, I'll overcome all opposition.

Some of you have wondered what the pictures I put up each week had to do with anything.  The answer is, nothing.  There's no conspiracy here and I'm not someone who believes in it.  This week, I decided I should put up a video instead.

A bit of shameless advertising is in order since many of my friends got engaged over the weekend.  My friend, Kris, has a website dedicated to LDS weddings.  You can visit it at Reasonably Priced Wedding by clicking the link.  I hope you'll some information of value, especially if you are engaged and are currently in the planning stage.

February holds many of my memories.  So great and some not so great.  For all it's worth, it is my birth month and also the month I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I'll post more about it in about a week.  In addition, it is also the month when some of the most unpleasant events happened to me while at BYU.  I mean, how many guys get dumped on their birthdays?  Seriously?

I'm never a big fan of Valentine's Day, but I think I'll change it up a bit this year.  Jonathan and I got some wild plans drawn up in cooperation with the rest of our roommates who are already dating people.  Regardless the outcome, it'll be shocking and perhaps amusing.  Whatever happens, it's miles better than some of the other suggestions I've seen on my Facebook wall.  Sorry friends, I don't believe in writing a letter to my future sweetheart.  I'm gonna go out there and make it happen instead.

Life has had an interesting turn.  I'm curious to see if this is for better or worse.  I'll keep you all up to date as best as I can.  I got two exams this week and they don't seem easy...

Turning Tide

Always sleepy...
This last week was awesome.  Strangely, February always makes me want to blog less about my life.  It could be because Valentine's Day is this month or maybe it's my birthday.  At any rate, I noticed the trend of not wanting to do much in February.

One of the great things that happened to me was finding out I had $75 excess in my ChaCha account.  That's right, I used to be a guide for them.  I cashed them out and now I'm $75 richer! I used the funds to buy myself the Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite art books.  I probably won't touch the Bioshock one for some time as it costs $140.  I'm slowly becoming a collector.

In other news, John Connor and I are about to start a project.  It involves making a Big Daddy suit for my dear moose.

Bishop Colemere gave a lesson about dating (again).  While I agreed with the words of wisdom he offered the elders, I am still somewhat dubious about the "direct quotes" he received from the women in the ward.  Something tells me that there were multiple elements of hyperbole mixed with truths in those words.

The highlight of my life recently was being selected as a recipient of the ORCA Grant!  Well, that definitely solved all my financial issues.  Not to mention, I get to file my taxes as an independent this year.  I will definitely need the money to build upon my operations.

I also started tutoring biology at Provo High every Tuesday!  High school students didn't seem as troublesome as I imagined they would be, but I do have one complaint.  I much prefer women my age hitting on me versus being 50% older than they are...you get my drill.  I just don't understand.  Oh well, people will be people.

Other than that, I'm still working, going to school, and attempting to go on some dates as agency permits.  We shall see how things go in the next couple of weeks.  I'm turning 24 soon and I feel like I need to do more.
